on a random side note, poets like tui-z make it difficult for me to sit through more than an hour of slam poetry.  words delivered with the intensity and conviction that he brings to the stage can’t help but reach out, grab my psyche by the collar, and slap it around so much so that it induces numbness and a kind of emotional overload that makes it not fun to listen to any more poetry.

that’s a good thing, and like most good things, it is possible to get too much of it.
