on a random side note, poets like tui-z make it difficult for me to sit through more than an hour of slam poetry.  words delivered with the intensity and conviction that he brings to the stage can’t help but reach out, grab my psyche by the collar, and slap it around so much so that it induces numbness and a kind of emotional overload that makes it not fun to listen to any more poetry.

that’s a good thing, and like most good things, it is possible to get too much of it.

i don’t.

taking portraits means that you have someone pose, and take a picture of them as they are making themselves look the way that they want you to see them.  any photographer can take a portrait.  hell, a $4 sticker booth can do that.

i try to capture moments.  unscripted, when someone is showing who they are rather than thinking about how they are going to show the photographer who they are.

that matters, images that capture a person’s heart and soul are hard to capture.  so no, i try not to take portraits.

its amazing how so many forms in nature resemble each other.

veins, blood vessels, roots, and even a tree’s branches.
